Step into the heart of Hungarian tradition and celebration at the “St Stephen’s Days” Folk Dance Festival, held in the vibrant city of Kecskemét. This special festival coincides with Hungary’s national holiday, St Stephen’s Day, which marks the founding of the Hungarian state more than a thousand years ago. During these festive days, the entire country comes alive with music, dance, fireworks, and the blessing of the new bread — a cherished symbol of Hungarian heritage. Join folk ensembles, orchestras, and dance groups from across the world for a dynamic festival that celebrates friendship, artistry, and the joy of cultural exchange. Experience authentic Hungarian hospitality, explore a city rich in art and music history, and perform before enthusiastic local audiences in a truly festive atmosphere.
About Kecskemét
Located in the heart of Hungary, Kecskemét perfectly embodies the charm and diversity of the Great Hungarian Plain. Just 85 km from Budapest, the city is celebrated for its Art Nouveau architecture, Apricot Pálinka, and deep musical heritage — being the birthplace of the world-renowned composer Zoltán Kodály. Stroll through its colorful squares, admire its architectural gems, and discover why Kecskemét is often called the “Hírös Town” — the famous city of art, culture, and tradition.
